Hi, I’m Mariah—a sensitive empath and former teacher who has found healing through yoga.
I've helped 30+ clients find inner peace and connect with their soul through my process.
At 23, I discovered the term "empath." I used to say, “I have lots of empathy,” but I couldn’t express how deeply painful it was to feel so much. Struggling with anxiety, I began practicing yoga in 2018 while living in China, where I fell in love with Eastern philosophy and began understanding yoga holistically.
A few months into my practice, I attended a trauma-informed yoga class and experienced a major emotional release through somatic movement. It was a transformative experience—something unlocked in my body, and I could visualize the emotions pouring out, many of which I had absorbed from others over time, and did not know how to let go of. This brought me immense relief, and led me on a journey to understand the science behind how this works, and help other sensitive souls and overwhelmed individuals find the healing and peace I found that day.
I earned a degree in psychology and spent four years as a therapeutic skills trainer and life coach for teens in a mental health center. My love for teens and my passion for educational reform in the U.S. led me to become a middle school English teacher in Baltimore, MD for two years.
Teaching post-pandemic left me emotionally drained after just a few months. After a personal tragedy, I experienced a numbing apathy that frightened me. I was in survival mode, which I began to realize was a shared experience for many teachers. Trusting in my past healing, I spent summer break getting certified as a yoga instructor, focusing on yoga philosophy. This learning process helped me return to teaching with love and renewed energy for my second year. Taking what I learned, I knew it was time to shift and become an advocate for teachers and empaths.
I’ve drawn from my experience and expertise to create this course with both empaths and educators in mind.
